2025 Fanfare Composition
The 2025 ACSMF is again providing an opportunity for one talented student composer to have their original fanfare performed as a part of the festival Gala Concert in the Michael Murray Centre at Westminster School, SA.
Criteria
Length
Instrumentation
1-2 minutes
Bass
Trumpet 1, 2, 3
Trombone 1, 2
Bass trombone
Horn 1, 2, 3, 4
Euphonium
Tuba
At least three (3) types of brass instrument must be used.
Percussion – up to 6 players
1 x set of 2 timpani
Optional orchestral percussion including snare drum(s)
Style
The choice of style is at the composers discretion but should reflect the spirit of the fanfare and the music of the festival.
Difficulty
The piece needs to be playable by student performers with limited rehearsal time.
Submissions
The score should be emailed to Michael Degenhart (mdegenhart@westminster.sa.edu.au) no later than 28 February 2025.
Your score must include all performance markings and directions and should be submitted using Sibelius (version 7 or later).
Judging
A short list of compositions will be decided by a small panel of judges. The judges decision will be final.
Performance
The successful composition will be rehearsed during the Festival and performed during the Festival Gala Concert on Sunday 22 June 2025.
